To be Sold with No Reserve
A Sasanian silver-gilt plate with a ruler on horseback, 6th-7th century and later, with added later inscription identifying the ruler as "Māhōy", of shallow form, engraved to centre well with a ruler on horseback the riding a horse at flying gallop to right, the king wearing a crown in the form of a winged eagle surmounted with a globe, with three rippling streamers flying out behind, wearing a chest halter over a belted tunic, and trousers with pleated edging, the horse wearing a harness ornamented with large bosses, its tail elaborately tied, the reverse fluted, 19.2 cm, 273 gr.

Dr. Oktor Skjærvø, Aga Khan Professor of Iranian Studies, Department of Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations, Harvard University has identified the added short inscription above the man on the horse to be in Middle Persian.

Fortunate friendship, T¹xz¡d, of my friendships, i.e. T¹xz¡d is the favorite one.
There may be also a kind of word-play as mihr can denote the Sun, and T¹xz¡d, as a name, literally
means “ray-born”.

Buyer's Premium
The buyer shall pay the hammer price together with a premium thereon of 26% up to £20,000 (31.2% inclusive of VAT), 25% from £20,001 - £500,000 (30% inclusive of VAT), 20% from £500,001 thereafter (24% inclusive of VAT). The premium price is subject to VAT at the standard rate.

Qualifying living artists and the descendants of artists deceased within the last 70 years are entitled to receive a re-sale royalty each time their work is bought through an auction house or art market professional.

0 to £50,000 - 4%
£50,000.01 to £200,000 - 3%
£200,000.01 to £350,000 - 1%
£350,000.01 to £500,000 - 0.5%
Exceeding £500,000 - 0.25%
ARR is capped at £12,500

Export of goods
Buyers intending to export goods should ascertain whether an export licence is required before bidding.
